Job Purpose
The Head of Research will be responsible for leading, managing and delivering high profile research and development work, and supporting colleagues within the organization to do the same. The role will involve providing effective leadership and oversight of a range of programs and projects across learning, skills and employment.
Responsible to delegate and supervise the jobs assigned by the Managing Director. His/her duties are to supervise the processing of day-to-day, quarterly and yearly plans. He/she is responsible for the approval of publication of the research on securities and other relevant research analysis and information as conducted in the Research Division. The Head of Research should support the sales team through accompanying them in their meetings with the clients and presenting the listed companies and economic issues in which the client is interested.
Job Description
Keeps well abreast of market movements, news and events, and reports any relevant information to the Managing Director.
Represent the research department in dealings with other departments and outsiders.
Set the coverage policy for the research and supervises the execution of research and advisory activities carried out for clients as directed by the Managing Director.
Delegates particular day-to-day responsibilities.
Reviews equity research on securities listed on the Egypt Stock Exchange.
Communicate with management of local, Gulf and foreign funds, as well as specialized clients to explain the reports issued and present these reports to them.
Coordinate with account managers responsible for funds and foreign clients to find out their requirements
Publishes research findings on the securities in coordination with relevant departments.
Approves the short-list prepared by the Research Senior Analyst to become the Focus List.
Reviews the Focus List on quarterly basis.
Supervises the communication with Egypt Stock Exchange to obtain necessary and relevant information upon publication dates from the listed companies that research has been done on.
Supervises the completeness of the system of documentation manual’s availability.
Follows up on research activities to ensure that findings conform to the goals and objectives.
Choosing the valuation methodology, writing styles, designs and formats.
Assigning key valuation factors, calculations and rational such as risk free rate, perpetual growth rate, exchange rate risk and market risk premium.
The head of research will be responsible to coordinate with the team heads concerning issuing a yearly strategy.
The head of research will be responsible for the department’s vision and forecasted figures from final output.
Supervising the forecasted macroeconomic figures. The head of research will be responsible for finally submit a coherent image from the macro and micro image and if there are any discrepancies, then there will be a need for justification.
Accountable for the analysis and evaluation of performance information, monitoring and reporting against objectives, outcomes and KPIs.
Responsibilities
Abides by Group by-laws including policies, procedures and proposes changes when necessary.
Abides by the authorities granted to the position as per the delegation of authority structure and any formal changes thereto.
Ensures compliance with the Investment Research Division policy and procedures.
Abides by CMA and other Regulatory bodies regulations and requirements.
Maintains independence and objectivity.
Delegates particular day-to-day responsibilities to the Research Team Head and Senior Analysts.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) or equivalent education, and a preferable 7-10 years of experience and/or training in similar function and industry.
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level 3 is a must.
Strong knowledge base and analytical, research and knowledge acquisition skills.
Computer literacy and knowledge in MS Office applications.
Strong communication skills and ability to work in teams.
