Equity Valuation Workshop 2022
How portfolio management in Egypt can help in times of crisis
Hosted on Monday, 12 December 2022 at the German University in Cairo (GUC), this was the opening session of the 5-day Equity Valuation Workshop (EVW) 2022. EVW is an interactive program that emphasizes on the practical side rather than the theoretical one alone in order to allow for practical application on the fundamentals of equity valuation. The first day of the workshop was devoted for an opening panel session, while the practical sessions will be covered over 4 days (12 hours).
As a part of EVW, this opening session aimed to discuss “How portfolio management in Egypt can help in times of crisis: Evidence from pre and post COVID-19, Russia-Ukraine war, and EGP pound devaluation”. Sponsored by Prime Securities, the session was presented by Amr Hussein Elalfy, MBA, CFA, Head of Research at Prime Securities and Mohamed Saad, Vice President - Research at Prime Securities.
This interactive session was very interesting and enjoyable by all attendees from faculty of management students, teaching assistants, lecturers, and postgraduate students. Many thanks to Prof. Yasser Hegazy, the President of the GUC, and Prof. Ehab Mohamed, Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Management, for their continuous support to student academic activities. Special thanks to Prof. Noha El-Bassiouny, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Management, for presenting the welcome speech in the opening ceremony of EVW.
Amr Hussein Elalfy said: “As always, it was a pleasure taking part of such value-added activities at the GUC with my colleague and friend Mohamed Saad. I look forward to an exciting workshop where attendees will have a hands-on real experience in valuing a company and a bank -- both listed on the EGX. My deep thanks to Dr. Mona El-Bannan for her keenness to make this workshop an opportunity for GUCians to come a step closer to the real world. Also, thanks to Dr. Prof. Noha El-Bassiouny for her warm welcome speech. And last but not least, thanks to Prof. Yasser Hegazy and Prof. Ehab Mohamed for their support for continuous learning.”
